The first finished Morse illustration and, oh, the joys of not having a scanner big enough to take the double page spreads! Much joining and Photoshop colour correcting later... and I notice even posting here, that a LOT more is required. Pff!

Somehow though, it feels like progress has been made - one down, six to go (although two more are almost complete).

Of mice and cats...

I'm now in amongst the Morse illustrations proper - it's a production line of stretched paper on drawing boards, but now that the roughs are all done and the final illustrations are settled on, I'm enjoying the process of paint on paper in an almost therapeutic way! This is the first of the three double page spreads and is almost finished (Morse's stint as a magician goes slightly wrong!).

Ostensibly research for the Morse book, but actually just helluva cool. The one 'buy new' copy on amazon was £170 (!), this [used] one was a grand total of...1p!!!! Worth every, well the only, penny! Errol Le Cain's illustrations are amazing.

I have another meeting with Gracie this weekend, to go over the Morse character and to work out the layout of the book. Gracie has given me photographs to work with (Morse was an actual, real cat!) and this is one of my first, very rough, sketches. Just trying to work out how he will look. I'm quite taken with the 'surly child' expression!
